The Unit of Equal Access for people with disabilities and people with special educational needs of the University of Ioannina aims to increase the rate of timely completion of studies and the equal participation in Education of students with disabilities.
To achieve this goal, a series of services are provided that are constantly being developed and reformulated, throughredesign of the existing supporting structures of the University of Ioannina and the creation of new ones.
Thus, provision of services is provided educational support, the creation accessible workstations in the University Library, the improvement and enrichment with new equipment of the infrastructures for use and access to educational material students with disabilities production of texts suitable for visually impaired students as well as the upgrade and the updating of the Websites of the Departments, the information system of the Library and Services of the University of Ioannina.
In addition, there will be a yearly economic grant offered to Disabled Students and Students that belong to Socially Vulnerable Groups, so that both categories can meet the requirements of their studies.
The recording of students' needs as well as the support actions are an integral part of the unit's action as well as the interface with other relevant bodies alongside awareness actions.
